PinDrive Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026
PinDrive is operated by Ryven Technologies, a sole proprietorship based in Kochi, Kerala, India ("we", "us").
This policy explains how the PinDrive Android app handles information. PinDrive is a local-first app. It does not require an account and does not run its own servers or cloud service for your Pins.
1. Information PinDrive handles
Location. PinDrive asks for precise and approximate location permission. It uses your location when you save a Pin and for location-based features such as Nearby Pins. PinDrive does not request background location access. A saved Pin's location is stored on your device. We do not operate a server that receives or stores your saved locations.
Pins, notes and lists. PinDrive stores what you create in the app: coordinates, accuracy and time of capture, an address when one is available, notes, lists, and related settings. This information is stored on your device.
Photos. You can take photos with your device's camera and attach them to Pins. These photos are stored on your device in the app's private storage. PinDrive resizes them and does not keep embedded GPS metadata in its stored copy. Your camera app or device may keep its own copy of a photo, which PinDrive does not control. We do not upload photos to any server.
Microphone and voice input. If you tap the microphone button, PinDrive asks for microphone permission and uses Android's speech recognition service to turn your speech into text, which is added to your note. Depending on your device and settings, your audio may be processed by a service outside your device, such as Google's, even though PinDrive asks for on-device recognition where available. PinDrive does not receive, record or store your audio. It keeps only the resulting text. Voice input is optional, and the rest of the app works without it.
Diagnostics. PinDrive has no analytics or crash-reporting software of its own. If you have chosen to share usage and diagnostic data with Google, Google Play may provide us with crash and performance reports. We do not run an analytics service.
2. How PinDrive uses information
PinDrive uses information only to provide its features: saving Pins, showing them on a map, searching and organizing them, storing notes and photos, converting speech to text when you ask, editing, deleting and restoring Pins, and handing a location to a navigation app when you ask. We do not use your saved locations for advertising and we do not sell your personal information.
3. Services that receive information
Some features need an outside service. When you use them, that service receives the information described below. We do not control how these services handle it.
Maps. PinDrive displays maps using OpenStreetMap map tiles. When a map is shown, your device requests tiles from the OpenStreetMap tile service. That service can see your IP address and which map area you are viewing, which indicates an approximate area of interest. PinDrive does not send your list of saved Pins to the map service. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy: https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy
Address lookup. To show an address for a Pin, PinDrive asks the Android platform's geocoding service to convert coordinates into an address. On many devices this request is handled by a network service, often provided by Google, and the coordinates are sent to it. The provider depends on your device. Saving a Pin does not depend on this lookup succeeding. See the Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Speech recognition. If you use voice input, Android's speech recognition service receives your audio, as described in section 1. It is provided by your device's speech service, often Google. See the Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Navigation. When you choose to navigate to a Pin, PinDrive passes the destination to a navigation app on your device, such as Google Maps. That app then handles the information under its own policy.
Feedback. If you use Send feedback, PinDrive opens a draft email in your email app. Nothing is sent automatically. You decide whether to send it and what to include. We receive what you send to support@pindrive.app.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
4. Storage, backup and data loss
PinDrive does not currently back up your Pins or photos, and it does not provide cloud sync. If you uninstall the app, clear its data, reset or lose your phone, your Pins, notes and photos may be permanently lost. Please keep your own copies of anything important.
5. Deleting your data
When you delete a Pin, it moves to Trash and can be restored for 30 days. After that it is permanently removed from the app's local data. You can also remove all PinDrive data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app in Android settings.
We do not hold your Pins on a server, so there is no PinDrive account or cloud data for us to delete. Information held by outside services, such as map, address, speech, navigation or email providers, is governed by their own policies.
6. Security
PinDrive stores its data in Android's app-private storage and relies on Android's app sandbox and your device's security. PinDrive does not separately encrypt its local database or files. Please protect your device with a screen lock and keep Android and PinDrive updated. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
7. Children
PinDrive is not directed at children. It has no accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through any PinDrive-operated service.
8. Your choices
You can allow or revoke location and microphone permission in Android settings, decide what to save in the app, delete Pins and photos, choose whether to use voice input or send feedback, and uninstall the app at any time. Turning off a permission may stop the related feature from working.
9. International use
PinDrive is operated from India. Outside services such as map, address and speech providers may process information in other countries under their own policies.
10. Changes to this policy
If PinDrive's features or data practices change, we will update this policy before or when the change takes effect and change the "Last updated" date above. If we add features such as accounts, cloud sync, backup or sharing, this policy will be updated to describe them.
